“Lost to be Found”

Often God allows us to become lost, so we can be found.

The Lost Parables

  1. The Lost Sheep- (Luke 15:4-7) NLT
  • The shepherd with 100 sheep, left and risked the other 99 who were found (or righteous) to seek and save the one that was lost.
  • Once the lost sheep is found, the shepherd returns home and celebrates, and tells everyone the good news.
  • Jesus is obsessed with the lost.

 

  1. The Lost Coin- (Luke 15: 8-10) NLT
  • A woman has 10 coins, she loses one.
  • Instead of saying oh well, I have 9 more, she becomes determined to seek and save the one that was
  • Jesus is obsessed with the lost.

  1. The Lost Sons- (Luke 15: 11-31) NLT

A man had two sons: Sin vs. Religion

  • The Prodigal- asked for his inheritance in advance, left home to “live it up”, quickly became broke,
    • ( v 17)- he “came to his senses”, returns home to ask father for a job, expects to be met with rebuke and judgement, instead
    • (v 20)- “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him”

  • (v 22-24)- Father demands a celebration, for my son “he was lost, but now he is found”.
  • The Golden Son- the patient responsible brother, worked hard, approved by all, sure to inherit his share eventually.
    • (v 25-27)- Stays in the field, receive the message from a servant that his brother has returned.
    • (v 28)- the brother becomes angry, refuses to greet his brother, but the Father came to Him and begged him to come inside to celebrate.
    • (v 32)- For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!
  • Jesus is obsessed with the lost.
